About the project

The project “Migrants from Poland in Germany – Cultural Aspects” was conducted at the Centre of Migration Research at the University of Warsaw in cooperation with the Deutsches Polen-Institut between 2016 and 2019 with the support of the Polish-German Foundation for Science.
The project aimed to fill one of the gaps in the knowledge on migrants from Poland in Germany and the dynamics and impacts of migration from Poland to Germany. Relying on interdisciplinary research methods, the project helped to make a multi-level assessment of various aspects of the issue: cultural participation by migrants from Poland in Germany and the presence of Polish culture in the German public sphere.
Given that migration from Poland to Germany is of interest to both the Polish and German public administration, an expert report has been prepared summarizing the results of research and recommendations on options for supporting the cultural participation of migrants from Poland in Germany both from the perspective of the sending and the receiving states.
